Outcome-Successfully marketed a year-long celebration commemorating Fort Hamilton's 200th anniversary, delivering a unified multi-channel campaign that culminated in a public Bicentennial celebration with 2,000+ attendees and regional media coverage.
The Challenge
A Bicentennial celebration is a once-in-a-generation event.
The Fort Hamilton Bicentennial marked a historic milestone of 200 years of continuous service as New York City's only active Army installation. The celebration consisted of numerous events throughout the year, each requiring its own promotional strategy while remaining part of a unified campaign.
My challenge was to help create and execute a cohesive marketing approach that would generate excitement, educate the community about Fort Hamilton's history, and engage military families, veterans, residents, and partner organizations. Every piece of communication needed to reinforce the Bicentennial brand while effectively reaching audiences across multiple platforms.
My Role
As the Marketing Specialist for Fort Hamilton Family & MWR, I played a key role in planning and executing the campaign's marketing efforts. I collaborated with leadership, program managers, and event coordinators to translate campaign goals into effective marketing initiatives.
My responsibilities included designing promotional materials, managing website content, developing social media campaigns, creating email communications, producing print collateral, and ensuring branding remained consistent throughout the year-long celebration. I also helped coordinate messaging across multiple departments to ensure every event supported the broader Bicentennial campaign.
the Strategy
Rather than marketing each event as a standalone initiative, I focused on creating an integrated campaign that delivered a consistent experience across every channel. Establishing a unified visual identity and messaging framework ensured that audiences immediately recognized Bicentennial communications, whether they encountered them through social media, email, the Fort Hamilton website, digital signage, or printed materials.
This multi-channel approach allowed us to expand our reach, reinforce key messages, and keep the celebration top of mind throughout the year while serving a broad audience both on and off the installation.
Results
The Fort Hamilton Bicentennial campaign successfully supported one of the installation's most significant commemorative milestones through a coordinated, multi-channel marketing strategy. Consistent branding, strategic communications, and close collaboration helped increase awareness of Bicentennial programming and foster stronger engagement across the military and surrounding community.
The project demonstrated my ability to manage complex marketing initiatives, balance multiple concurrent priorities, and execute integrated campaigns that advance organizational objectives while delivering a meaningful experience for the audience.
